Whitehawk Community Food Project is part of an allotment site comprising 12 allotments including fruit, vegetable and herb beds, polytunnels, ponds and an orchard area. It is an established and productive garden demonstrating a high standard of allotment methodology and philosophy. If you would like to volunteer, just drop in to one of the regular workdays. These are held every Sunday and Thursday from 12 to dusk, rain or shine, all year round. You do not need experience of gardening, just a willingness to learn. Work varies according to the season and includes the usual weeding, planting, watering etc, as well as occasional projects like fence building, coppicing, pond-making, shelter-building and so on. In return for your work you can take home a share of whatever produce is available. Meet: Whitehawk Hill allotments, Whitehawk Hill Road (near radio mast). Bus: 2, 21. Train: Brighton station 1 mile.
